FREE INTRODUCTION TO SPORTS JOURNALISM WORKSHOPS

We run regular workshops for those interested in a career in sports journalism. All workshops are held in our London or Manchester training centres, just a short walk from main line train stations.

ON THE SCENE: Sportsbeat journalists provided over 15,000 stories to over 100 clients, covering nearly 40 sports during 2008
ON THE SCENE: Sportsbeat journalists provided over 20,000 stories to over 200 newspapers, covering nearly 40 sports during 2011.

Occasionally our lecturers and speakers hold courses 'on the road' and even visit organisations, such as schools, colleges or community projects, on site. For example, Sportsbeat has provided NVQ level media training for Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United and the Professional Cricketers' Association.

Sportsbeat's Introduction to Sports Journalism (ISJ) workshops

This popular one-day course is run by the full-time sports reporters at Sportsbeat, the UK's leading sports news agency providing over 20,000 stories per year to 200 newspapers and 300 websites.

The course runs regularly throughout the year and is held on Fridays.

Many graduates from the course have moved on to our full-time, NCTJ-accredited Multimedia Diploma, while others have become a regular part of Sportsbeat's match reporters network - which every weekend covers more than 300 football and rugby matches across the United Kingdom.

The course covers all of the basics of sports journalism - match reporting, meeting tight deadlines, knowing how different publications cover different stories and much more.

There are regular contributions from members of Sportsbeat's reporting team, who work in the newsroom that sits adjacent to our training centre.
