Skandia to support ISAF World Sailing Championship coverage

UPDATED: Coverage reached 18.7 million readers across Sportsbeat's network of press clients, 90 titles in total. All 50 sailors in the team were covered and the coverage offered Skandia a return on investment of 18:1.

Investment specialist Skandia, the principal sponsor of the British sailing team, will support Sportsbeat's coverage of the ISAF World Sailing Championships in Perth.

The agency will provide a tailored copy service to all newspaper and online clients, focussing not just on those chosen or battling for selection for next year's Games but those already setting their sights on Rio 2016.

All content will run alongside Skandia messaging and branded imagery.

Sportsbeat also worked with Skandia on coverage of the recent Skandia Sail for Gold regatta, part of the ISAF World Cup Series, and Weymouth and Portland International Regatta, part of the London Prepares Series of Olympic test events.

So far this year sailing coverage - which has been provided in text and video form - has reached over 19 million readers.

"At the Beijing Olympics sailing delivered six medals, including four golds - and with the likes of Ben Ainslie, Paul Eddison and Iain Percy recently confirming their London 2012 selection, the sport is promising to provide some of the big stories of next year's Games," said Sportsbeat's Executive Editor David Parsons.

"We've also got very high hopes for our Paralympic team, with Alexandra Rickham recently nominated for the ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Award.

"There is a big demand for sailing content and the build-up to the Games, with several selections still to be decided, means this World Championships will be more anticipated than ever before."
