Thanks to British Olympic Association for night at the Ball

A big thanks to the British Olympic Association for being such great hosts at the BT Olympic Gold Ball.

Sportsbeat's Managing Editor James Toney and Executive Editor David Parsons continued their penchant for dressing up to walk down the gold carpet - amazingly no-one stopped them for an interview.

Beach volleyball Olympic hopeful Zara Dampney - a favourite of client newspaper the Bournemouth Echo - was subjected to their company as the Olympian guest on their table, where the Wenlock and Mandeville flavoured jelly babies also proved a big hit.

One guest, who it seemed might have found his Olympic spirit at the bottom of a bottle of Vodka, insisted one of our boys was Mark Cavendish - clearly failing to realise that neither of their physiques could be termed 'athletic'.

After not taking no for an answer, let's just hope the autographed menu doesn't end up on Ebay!

However, the night was a great success with hundreds of thousands raised to help fund next year's British Olympic team at the London 2012 Games.
