Sportsbeat first across the line with Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials 2016 coverage

For the third year running Sportsbeat had a strong team on location in Lincolnshire for the jewel in the crown of the eventing season – the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials.

Once again we were working with CAA Sports Consulting to provide a full video and editorial news production and service, with our content distributed to national and regional newspapers and broadcasters, and digital equestrian platforms both in the UK and throughout the world.

As in 2015, Burghley delivered fantastic action in spades and it was a pleasure to work with our presenter and equestrian expert Eleanor Kelly to uncover some of the stories from around the showground.

That included catching up with Test Match Special lynchpin and former England cricketer Jonathan Agnew to judge the best trade stands and spending some time behind the scenes with leading rider Andrew Nicholson following his return to the top of the sport following a horror fall.

The Brooke, Land Rover Burghley Horse TrialsIt was another fantastic week on location working with the guys from CAA Sports Consulting and Burghley Horse Trials to deliver some content we’re really proud of, with our videos on more than 140 websites around the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Across all platforms Sportsbeat generated more than 1,800 branded insertions with content appearing in nearly 40 different titles with a print readership in excess of 2.5 million. Our stories and videos also appeared 1,400-plus times on more than 160 digital platforms and social channels, with the total advertising value equivalent (AVE) to the client of £700,000-plus.

That included equestrian platforms such as The Irish Field (Ireland), Eventing Nation (USA), An Eventful Life (Australia) and stuff.nz (New Zealand).

“This was our third year covering the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, and it was fantastic to be able to draw on our experience of reporting on three-day eventing at major events like the London and Rio Olympic Games once more,” said Sportsbeat editor-in-chief David Parsons.

“Burghley Horse Trials is rightly viewed as eventing’s most prestigious competition attracting world class crowds and high quality sponsors and, which gave us a brilliant opportunity to be both creative in our approach while still delivering great value for money to our clients.

“Sportsbeat thrive on tight deadlines and telling the story of sport’s classic occasions and Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials certainly delivered that in 2016.”
