Sportsbeat launch sports journalism diversity scheme with Sports Journalists’ Association
Sportsbeat, in partnership with the Sports Journalists’ Association, are delighted to announce the launch of a journalism diversity scholarship for aspiring sports reporters.
The successful applicant will have their fees covered while they undertake their NCTJ Diploma in Multimedia Sports Journalism at News Associates, the award-winning journalism school based in our offices in London and Manchester.
News Associates was recognised last December as the UK’s number one NCTJ-accredited journalism school for the fourth consecutive year, with successful graduates now working on the sports desks of national newspapers, agencies, broadcasters and in content roles with sports teams and national governing bodies.
At the conclusion of their studies the successful candidate will be offered a full-time four-month contract on our newsdesk, commencing May 2020 and based in London.
Sportsbeat managing editor James Toney said: “We are delighted to be working with the Sports Journalists’ Association on this unique opportunity, underlining our commitment to supporting candidates from diverse backgrounds in breaking into careers in sports media.”
Sports Journalists’ Association co-chair Janine Self said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to give a helping hand to someone from a diverse background. We are very pleased to be working with News Associates and Sportsbeat.”
Click here to download an application form. The deadline for applicants is May 3 at 5pm with those shortlisted invited to attend an assessment centre in London on May 31.
You can also attend a free sports journalism taster session, to get a glimpse into life at our agency and News Associates on April 27th. Find out more here.
